DO YOU THINK YOU ARE SITTING IN THE DIRECTOR’S CHAIR OF YOUR LIFE?
Lights, camera, action . . . you have been asked to produce and direct a movie about God sending his son to earth. You can develop any script and go in any direction. Close your eyes and imagine your movie. And ask yourself – would it be like the story in the Gospels? Probably not.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” - Isaiah 55:8-9
1. YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG THE MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE IS GOING TO BE.
Ecclesiastes 8:8 - No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death.
Ecclesiastes 9:12 - Moreover, no man knows when his hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so men are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.
2. GOD IS PRODUCING AND DIRECTING YOUR MOVIE.
Psalm 31:14-15 - But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God. My times are in your hands.”
Psalm 139:16 - Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
3. YOU CAN READ THE SCRIPT AND KNOW HOW IT WILL END.
John 5:25, 28-29 - I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live… Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out — those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.
4. SINCE YOU KNOW HOW IT WILL END, GET YOUR NAME IN THE BOOK OF LIFE.
Revelation 20:11-12, 15 - Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life… If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Acts 22:16 - And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.
